DIY Chevron Corkboard {tons of pics!}

I don't think it is a secret that I love all things CHEVRON.

I'm a bit obsessed, but not too obsessed to spend a bazillion bucks on something I could easily make myself. Here are the easiest directions I could come up to make this cutie.

It's so big and perfect for a classroom to hang up important notes, artwork, cards, etc.

Since it can't be in my classroom yet, it's resting for the summertime in my home office.

I had most of the supplies on hand already and just had to run to Michael's to get the cork board & paint (3 for $1 woo!)

What you'll need:
corkboard roll {I used 24" x 48"}
craft paint
paint brush
duct tape
pencil
scissors
yard stick

{step one}

STEP ONE:
You are going to draw a grid on on your corkboard. Mine was 24" by 48" so I just measured 4" x 4" sections and traced the yard stick with a PENCIL.

 {step two}

 STEP TWO:
Use scissors to cut precise pieces of the duct tape so the ends go from corner to corner.
It doesn't matter how you do it, as long as it is consistent throughout the whole zig-zag line.
I would put tape down, draw a line with my pencil for where I needed to cut, pull up, cut, and put back down on the cork.

This is the longest part - it took me about 20-25 minutes to do because I have OCD.

 {step three}

 Once you have all your tape secured -- paint like crazy! I put about 3 coats to make sure it was really white. Corkboard tends to soak in paint, so one just isn't enough!
  {step four}

 Once the paint is pretty dry, un-peel the tape and touch up any mess-ups using a butter knife.

I let mine dry in the sun on the deck for the day and inside overnight.

It looks super cute on the wall, don't you think?

I hope this tutorial is easy to understand.

Let me know how it goes if you try it! I would love to see it on Instagram! {@teachingspecialthinkers}
